Spider-Man advertises crypto scam: hacking Tom Holland's X-account

Recently, the X-account of famous actor Tom Holland was hacked, and attackers used it to spread false information about SPIDER cryptocurrency tokens and Spiderverse NFTs. The post contained a link to a phishing site. This was reported by U.Today.

The criminals manipulated the account, which was followed by more than 7 million people, to create a false impression of a partnership between the Spider-Man star and major international cryptocurrency exchange Binance.
Details of the hack
The hacked account also posted a link to a fraudulent website enticing users to gain early access to the fake SPIDER cryptocurrency and Spiderverse NFTs. In some screenshots indicating a possible hack, a selfie of the mystery man was found appearing on the actor's Platform X profile.

The selfie of the hacker, believed to be a man with curly hair, showed his face hidden behind a mask pulled up to his chin. This may be a nod to the iconic upside-down kiss scene from the original Spider-Man film. The post containing this image has since been deleted.
It is noteworthy that the last activity on Holland's X page, with 7.1 million subscribers, dates back to June 2023.
In 2022, the actor announced that he had decided to delete some social media applications from his mobile device in order to take care of his mental health. On Instagram, where Tom Holland, who plays Peter Parker, has almost 66 million followers, his most recent post was published in February 2024.
